Professional Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgeon/Human Anatomist to join our academic and clinical team. This hybrid role requires the candidate to provide the instruction, mentorship, and assessment of undergraduate (MBChB) medical students and junior residents in Human Anatomy and high-quality surgical care.

Required Qualifications

1. Basic Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or its equivalent from a university recognized by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
2. Postgraduate Specialization: Master of Medicine (MMed) in General Surgery, and Orthopedic Surgery.
3. Licensure: Must hold a valid specialist practitioner license with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
4. Earned Ph.D. will be an added advantage.

Experience Required

1. Teaching Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of active teaching or research experience in human anatomy or surgical disciplines at a recognized university or master level medical training institution.
2. Clinical Practice: Demonstrated active clinical surgical practice background bridging basic anatomy with operative safety.
3. Scholarly Output: Evidence of published articles in reputable, refereed journals is an added advantage.

Core Competencies

1. Strong pedagogical skills with mastery in digital anatomy tools and traditional cadaveric demonstration.
2. Exceptional surgical visualization and structural mapping skills.
3. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal competencies.
4. Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, virtual dissection software).
5. Familiarity with Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) frameworks will be added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Didactic Teaching: Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and case-based learning sessions on clinical anatomy correlations, and practical sessions to undergraduate MBChB students and postgraduate surgical trainees (MMed).
2. Dissection Lab Supervision: Lead and supervise cadaveric dissection sessions, demonstrating surgical landmarks, fascial planes, and structural variations.
3. Curriculum Development: Update and review anatomical and surgical training modules in line with the KMPDC standards.
4. Mentorship and Assessment: Conduct formative and summative student assessments (OSCEs, vivas, practicals) and mentor resident doctors.
5. Research and Publication: Undertake impactful biomedical or surgical-anatomical research and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
